1, 3, 4 & 5 are all easily do-able. I would suggest you check out the kenny Gioia videos for tutorials on how to get up & running with FX & recording etc. 2 would possibly depend on which theme you were using, with regards to having the knob in a suitable place - you can definitely put a knob in the mixer, but you might want to consider making a channel strip if you can't get a theme to incorporate an FX send knob exactly where you want.
OK thanks for the swift reply, I don't really understand your last sentence but is there any digital mixer frontend that would be PNP with Reaper? I believe these things exist, basically a mixer like those two first videos but only sending CC's to Reaper? And without spending forever assigning them all to Reaper mixer? My tunes sound dead like driving on a highway, they need dub mixing.
Figures thanks, short answer is that everything I want is doable but I'll have to learn how, sounds like a plan :) So basically this can save me a lot of hassle I think: And sendfx is kinda ghetto in a way, ofc it makes the mix blend-in nicely but I got discrete fx on every channel already so I can just assign their knobs to this surface device for every channel and live dub mixing is very much on :) No total recall but no biggy I guess OK it's sealed: ))))
For future reference and google searchers, total recall isn't that much of an issue as there is a "send all" button on top right corner of MIDIMIX that sends all current locations of knobs/faders to the DAW as explained on There is a script to make the lights work in REAPER: And you can change the knobs: I'm surprised that script was only downloaded less than 900 times in 4 years as this seems pretty awesome :) Usually the way I work in Reaper is making a 16 bars tune with several tracks and then run live audio recording mix with me enabling/disabling tracks on the fly to make it last until I'm happy and then I'll do what I hate the most, actually building a sequence that mimicks a live mix with fade in/out's everywhere........time consuming and plain annoying, I guess I'll heavily rely on this MIDIMIX and only do bare sequencing, less annoying cut/pasting and more fun :) Gotta find real knobs now :D
I'll just get those, every other knob is 3 bones a pop so whatever: 8x blue + 16x red will do great, might as well get the "Novation Launch Control XL" but it lacks an extra fader that's useful for the fx return channel volume Still unsure what to route in REAPER to the knobs, as it seems that in those live dub mixes they set it to echo feedback and not dry/wet, anyway one knob for tape delay, one for spring reverb and one for mutron bi-phase :)
All ordered, waiting for xmas time all over again :) I've read an amazon reviewer saying that this MIDIMIX in Lightroom was too good to be true and going back to mouse editing felt like stone age ( ) and I would concur because using a mouse for audio mixing is utterly counterproductive and this modded MIDIMIX seems like the missing link, I will totally use this all the time in order to save time. Besides you can do a lot more with 8 fingers than one single miserable mouse click. I will most likely use the 3 buttons on the right for transport( back to beginning / play / stop )

Well, while composing and adding new layers of synth/bass/what-not it's just plain annoying to click on every channel volume fader and try to barely move the mouse, to the point that I usually have to right-click on them and type in figures such as -4.5 dB.........so actual volume faders will make my life a whole lot easier and I'll wonder how I even got through all this before. And going SOLO/MUTE on every channel but one will be way faster than clicking on every dang tiny button on my 55" TV Either way, I'll only have to do minimum sequencing now only for actual variations and I'll be able to use MIDIMIX for mixing/transport so yeah, most likely a HUGE game changer as I really hate cut/pasting bars and try not make it all sound non-robotic :) I hope I'll be able to fine-tune the live mixing automation data afterwards with the mouse but that's most likely the case. 25 years of CUBASE behind me and simple tasks in CUBASE are so tedious in REAPER, but it's worth it :)
Seriouslee, REAPER is really the anti-FL Studio, like its version from the bizarro world :D To duplicate MIDI items, apparently the most convenient way is right-click and NUDGE huh? How is this ergonomic? I still haven't figured out how to replace the glue/scissors options from CUBASE, they apparently don't exist in REAPER You can delete the active take but not inactive ones and you can't merge them either, I've made a feature request but nobody cares as it seems: You can certainly do anything you want but you'll have to figure out how, feels like they make it over-complicated on purpose as a n00b-protection ))))
BTW, if you want to loop that 2 bar MIDI item, just glue it to itself (that is weird, I know) and click & drag either edge. Or "copy loop of selected area of items," paste and click & drag.
